Anuradhapura is an ancient city of stupas
and palaces where the kings and people of yore enacted the
daily rituals of life. Those selfsame rituals are enacted
today. The people of modern day Anuradhapura rise with the
sun, walk to the tank to bathe and wash clothes. Take a
tray of flowers to place at the alter of Ruvanvelisaya before
proceeding to work.
