As the days get shorter and the cold sets in, the Greater Flamingo leave the shores of their home country to journey to sunny Sri Lanka where they take up residence for a couple of months. The enormous lagoons up north and in the south are their wintering grounds, the Ramsar Wetland Site of Bundala National Park being a favourite.
