The vegetation on this tract of sandy coast has adapted to its harsh environment and is able to withstand constant submergence by sand, persistent unbroken rays of the sun, harsh temperatures which intensify around noon, low moisture content and salinity in the atmosphere. The spinifex thrives in these conditions.
