The capital city of Sri Lanka, until Sri Jayewardenepura was declared the capital, Colombo remains the hub of the nation. The parliament and the airport is located outside Colombo city limits. The suburbs are fast developing with supermarkets, banks and government and private sector offices at every junction. Yet, the port and major hotels, the theatres and exhibition centers, commercial and state offices are in Colombo.
