Located in the east coast of Sri Lanka, the City of Batti as it is oft called, is full of lagoons. Huge watery expanses bisect the town and its outskirts. Massive iron bridges like this one connect the landmasses together and facilitates access. The approach roads to Battecaloa also have some of the few vehicular bridges which have railway tracks and on which trains continue to ply.
